Many U.S. Soccer fans learned that American manager and ex-Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch attended Ivy League college Princeton. Fans discovered this after Marsch was spotted in the crowd of Princeton’s March Madness game against Creighton Friday night.
Marsch played for Princeton’s soccer team from 1992 to 1995 and was an All-American.
After being let go as Leeds’ manager on Feb. 6, the American returned to the States to take in some college hoops on Friday at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Yes, that is the real name of the arena.
I have to tip my hat to the crew showing the Princeton-Creighton game. There’s so much behind the scenes work that goes into directing and producing live sports. The crew was able to locate Marsch in the crowd and made sure to show him on camera while broadcaster Ian Eagle did an ad read for CBS’ Golazo! network.
It looks simple on TV, but this is so well done.

USMNT Twitter loved the guest appearance from Marsch. Here were some of the best reactions.

What a weird day.#USMNT— Trey Mongrue (@TreyMongrue) March 25, 2023
Of course there's an insane back-and-forth game with no actual tactical theme and Jesse Marsch is there.

Princeton, a 15 seed in the tournament, saw their Cinderella run end in the Sweet 16 with an 86-75 defeat to Creighton.
As for Marsch it’s unclear where his next coaching gig will be. Some USMNT fans hope his future lies with the national team.
