Haven’t gotten enough of José Mourinho over the past 20 years or through All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur? Well he’s forcing his way onto your TV screen again through the medium of a new Netflix documentary titled The Playbook, which releases globally on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Thankfully, Mourinho will be joined by four other legendary coaches: two-time World Cup-winning manager Jill Ellis, 2008 NBA championship-winning coach Doc Rivers, Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou and 2017 NCAA women’s basketball championship-winning coach Dawn Staley, who’s also the coach of the USA women’s national team.
Ellis served as the USWNT manager between 2014 and 2019, winning both the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, while only losing seven of her 132 matches in charge, although her most strenuous tests probably came from the inside as players like Hope Solo, Sydney Leroux and Ali Krieger didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye with Ellis.
She stepped down following the last triumph and continues to work as a U.S. Soccer Ambassador while also recently being linked with the vacant Australia position.
