The USA can never be considered a true soccer country until an aging fringe national team player's rap song becomes the number one single in the country.
That is what Lukas Podolski's stupid (we don't speak German, and therefore are relying upon the principle that any musical venture from any athlete is stupid) rap song (though not as stupid as Jese Rodriguez's effort this summer, the music video for which was even stupider than the actual song and made us very uncomfortable at work) is in Germany. Number one. The most popular.
From what we can tell, it's a very melancholy song about Podolski's adopted hometown, Cologne. As far as hometown anthems go, it's not exactly Young Jeezy's "Put On" or even Pitbull's "305 Anthem". We hope Podolski's sophomore effort is better, but frankly we're not expecting much.
