Amazing Goals

Wednesday’s Chelsea-Wolfsburg matchup in the UEFA Women’s Champions League was one of those games you just didn’t want to end. Thrilling action on either side of the pitch ended in a 3-3 draw featuring stunning golazos, horrifying mistakes and a late, late equalizer.

Chelsea, last season’s runner-up, opened its UWCL campaign on fire, scoring 12 minutes in through a Sam Kerr stunner only to concede the next three goals on howlers. But the reigning FA WSL champs dug deep to earn a draw to share the spoils in Group A. 

Liverpool and Manchester City stood toe-to-toe at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, exchanging haymakers and glorious bits of skill in an end-to-end classic that ended 2-2 after an exchange of four second-half goals. 

City carved the best opportunities of the first half with Phil Foden tormenting stand-in right back James Milner and Bernardo Silva at his freakish best. This dribble from Silva in the 20th minute deserved a finish from Foden. 

Daryl Dike's header in the 97th minute lifted Orlando City SC to a thrilling 2-1 victory over D.C. United in a battle of Eastern Conference contenders on Saturday night at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fla.

Dike's header from the center of the box beat D.C. United keeper Bill Hamid into the top right corner on an assist from Chris Mueller following a corner kick. It was Dike's seventh goal of the campaign.

Chelsea momentarily sits at the top of the Premier League table after defeating Southampton 3-1 on Saturday. The victory wasn’t as straight forward as the final score suggests as the Blues found the go-ahead goal in the 84th minute.

Chelsea’s third goal was perhaps one of the most bat-shit crazy goals I’ve seen in a long time. FIFA 22 was just released, and this Ben Chilwell goal vs Southampton looks like it came right out a video game.

Zenit St. Petersburg sits in third place in Champions League Group H after Wednesday's 4-0 stomping of Swedish side Malmö, level on points with Chelsea. Zenit opened group play with a 1-0 defeat to the Blues, its first loss of the season, on Sep. 14. 

Sergei Semak's team coasted to victory in its second UCL outing of the season, already up 2-0 when Malmö's Anel Ahmedhodžić was sent off for a handball after 53 minutes.

There are some things that will never get old, no matter how often they happen or how much you hate the team doing it. Two of those things are volleys off set pieces and Cristiano Ronaldo taking his shirt off to celebrate a goal. Both happened on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
