The 2017 SheBelieves Cup Starts Wednesday With A Clash Between The World’s Top Two Teams

While the entire 2017 calendar for the USWNT is still unknown, it’s fair to say that the SheBelieves Cup will serve as their biggest and toughest competition of the year. With all four participating nations ranked in the top five of the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, the tournament will prove to be a marquee event.

UWSNT coach Jill Ellis released the 23-player roster for the Cup that will kick off on Wednesday, March 1 at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Why Are American Players Leaving The NWSL, At Least Temporarily, For Europe?

Carli Lloyd just signed for a short-term stint with Manchester City. Rising star Crystal Dunn is leaving for Chelsea. And soccer rock star Alex Morgan is (temporarily) at French Club Lyon. While these might seem like isolated incidents, it's actually a pattern. More and more U.S. women's soccer stars are leaving the states, at least in the short term for Europe.

The Soccer World Reacts To The Patriots Super Bowl Comeback On Twitter

Yesterday, the New England Patriots took on the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. Everyone was ready to call it quits at halftime when the Falcons were crushing the Pats 28-3. But, the game is not over until the ref blows the final whistle, and when the time came and the ref blew the final whistle the game was tied up at 28-28. Coach Bill Belichick must have had one hell of a half time speech for his team because the Pats returned to the field after half with a whole new perspective.

It was a surprise to everyone, but the Patriots came through and won their fifth NFL title.

Even Carli Lloyd Was Shocked At Winning The FIFA Player Of The Year Award

Early in 2016, Lloyd released her autobiography When Nobody Was Watching: My Hard-Fought Journey To The Top Of The Soccer World. It was a book that reflected on her family falling-out as well as the struggles and sacrifices she encountered as she rose to the top.

Carli Lloyd Won The FIFA Women's Player Of The Year Award For The Second Year In A Row

Carli Lloyd has won her second FIFA Women's Player of the Year award in as many years. It's a tremendous accomplishment, despite the fact that the award appeared to have been chosen by folks who don't follow/watch a whole lot of women's soccer.

Lloyd is certainly one of the best and most recognizable players in the world. However, there are other, less-recognizable players who maybe deserved the award more.
