It's a friendly, Leo, go easy on them! Messi scores hat trick on 36th birthday

It's probably for the best that Lionel Messi was way too busy to watch Inter Miami play on Saturday night. While the Herons were getting smacked 4-1 by Philadelphia for a seventh consecutive defeat in MLS, Messi was celebrating his 36th birthday in his hometown of Rosario and playing in a testimonial match for Newell's Old Boys legend Maxi Rodríguez.

Senegal put FOUR past Brazil as Sadio Mané scores a brace

Brazil's legendary national team has played 89 different countries over the course of its storied history but only two nations have managed to face the Seleção without tasting defeat. Norway, surprisingly, has a record of two wins and two draws against Brazil (including a famous victory at the '98 World Cup), and the other nation actually beat them on Tuesday: Senegal.

Luis Díaz hits the griddy and sets a new low for zombie-like Germany

Germany suffered a 2-0 home loss to Colombia in a friendly on Tuesday in their latest setback less than a year before they host Euro 2024.

Luis Diaz's 54th-minute header and Juan Cuadrado's penalty in the 82nd gave the visitors their first victory over the Germans, who were booed at the end.

The Germans, who have less than a year to build a battle-hardened team for the continental tournament, had needed two late goals to draw 3-3 with Ukraine last week before Friday's 1-0 loss to Poland.

Inter Miami confirms date of Lionel Messi's debut

Lionel Messi is set to play his first game for Inter Miami on July 21 when the Major League Soccer side host Mexico's Cruz Azul in their Leagues Cup opener, managing owner Jorge Mas told the Miami Herald newspaper on Tuesday.

Messi and Miami have agreed terms on a deal and are finalizing paperwork and visas after the Argentine great's announcement this month of his intention to join the club.

The 35-year-old will sign a two-and-a-half year deal worth $50 million to $60 million per year with an option to extend until 2026, according to the Miami Herald.

Messi says no to 2026 World Cup — he's fully focused on Inter Miami

Inter Miami took to the pitch Saturday against New England at Gillette Stadium with Lionel Messi nearly 7,000 miles away in Beijing — no matter, the Revs still drew a season-high crowd of 36,235 just looking to get a glimpse of the (awful) visiting team that now houses the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Former Venezuela and Bolivia national team coach flips his lid and punches two opposition players

SD Aucas coach César Farías needs help to control his anger bursts. It could be a therapy session, binge-watching Ted Lasso, or anything that can do the trick. He has a history of violent incidents throughout his career and just added one more after punching two opposition players during a game in Ecuador's first division last weekend.

Massive brawl in women's soccer game

The row started when Sporting San Miguelito defender Rebeca Espinosa sneakily kicked Stephany Toral from Plaza Amador. Toral didn't take the aggression well and, seeking revenge, responded with a destructive right hook into Espinosa's face.

But things didn't end there.

Messi wants to return to Barcelona, says his father/agent

Lionel Messi, who last week played his last game for Paris St Germain, is open to making a return to LaLiga side Barcelona, the Argentine forward's father said on Monday.

Barça were forced to let their talisman leave in 2021 because his high wages coupled with strict LaLiga financial rules could have jeopardized the club's future.

Messi, who joined Barcelona's youth set-up aged 13 and went on to become the club's all-time top scorer and appearance maker with 672 goals in 778 games in all competitions, moved to PSG as a free agent on a two-year contract.
