Last night in Dublin, Wales defeated the Republic of Ireland 1-0 thanks to Harry Wilson’s stunning free kick in the 58th minute. The win put the Dragons at the top of UEFA Nations League B Group 4, and a victory over Denmark in Cardiff on Nov. 16 would see the nation promoted to League A — an achievement that would make Ryan Giggs’ early tenure as boss a resounding success.
The enthralling Chelsea-Liverpool match was nearing an end with the home side inching closer to an impressive win on Saturday at Stamford Bridge. Then the Daniel Sturridge goal vs. Chelsea happened and the world exploded. Or, at the very least, the internet exploded.
Chelsea vs. Liverpool was already the biggest match of the weekend in England (perhaps all of Europe outside of Madrid). But after Wednesday’s clash between Eden Hazard and Jordan Henderson, we cannot wait to see the Blues and Reds go at it again on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool is the lone club with a perfect record in Premier League play, boasting six wins from six. Chelsea (along with Manchester City) is right behind with five wins and a draw. That in itself makes Chelsea vs. Liverpool one of the biggest September clashes in recent memory.
Football is about winning as well as entertaining. In the end, people pay a ticket to cheer for their teams as much as they want to have a good time. Nutmegs serve this purpose. Even after a boring 0-0 tie, a good nutmeg can save the day and make fans leave the stadium with a smile.
In the following examples, I would say that smile lasted over a week. Time to see some magic!

Daniel Sturridge somehow missed a tap-in with an open net moments into the second half of Liverpool’s League Cup match with Chelsea. Less than 15 minutes later, he was celebrating a brilliant goal to put the Reds in front at Anfield.
But the Sturridge goal vs Chelsea was for naught, as the Blues rallied late for a 2-1 win.

The Champions League returns tomorrow as the group stage kicks off with two marquee games that’ll garner attention across the globe: at 12:55 p.m. ET, Inter Milan and Tottenham do battle at the San Siro, and that’s followed by a 3:00 p.m. ET classic between Liverpool and PSG at Anfield. That’s one helluva first day.
