Watch: FOX embarrassingly mistakes Mallory Swanson with Sophia Smith on live TV broadcast

FOX has done it again, folks.

The U.S. women’s national team claimed gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics final against Brazil on Saturday, with forward Mallory Swanson scoring the only goal in the USWNT’s historic victory.

On the same day, Dansby Swanson — husband of Mallory and MLB shortstop for the Chicago Cubs — recorded his 1,000th career hit, putting the cherry on top to an amazing day for the Swanson’s.

Sophia Smith was offside for the USWNT’s goal vs. Brazil, here’s why the goal still stood

We’ve waited a dozen years to hear it, but at last the United States women’s national team are Olympic gold medalists! The USWNT defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final in Paris on Saturday to win gold for the fifth time.

One year after the worst World Cup in the USWNT’s history, they’ve bounced back to claim the gold medal that eluded them for over a decade.

The United States women’s national team front three of Sophia Smith, Mallory Swanson and Trinity Rodman have proposed a name for their fearsome trio.

While media have tossed around “The Trident” as a potential title, the three USA stars appeared on TODAY and have said they are proposing the name “Triple Espresso.”

Two Mallory Swanson goals vs Zambia in the 24th and 25th minute put the United States women’s national team out of reach as they cruised to a 3-0 victory in their opening game of the 2024 Olympics.

The USWNT’s first group stage game was played in Nice, France.

The USA came out swinging to begin their quest for gold, peppering Zambia’s goal with shots. Swanson and Trinity Rodman both rocked the crossbar with efforts early in the first half.

With no more friendlies left until Olympic roster reveal – which forwards will Emma Hayes bring to Paris?

United States women’s national team head coach Emma Hayes oversaw her first two games in charge and now must make the 18-player Olympic roster. One topic being hotly debated is who to bring as the forwards?

Perhaps a more appropriate question is how many forwards to bring? The USWNT has an Olympic-sized swimming pool kind of depth in attack. With only 18 players set to be on the plane to Paris, the decision is cutthroat.

Hayes led the USWNT to 4-0 and 3-0 victories against South Korea earlier this month and utilized all her forwards across the two games.

The Emma Hayes Era commenced with an extraordinary win.

The18’s 18-player USWNT Olympic roster prediction — April edition

The United States women’s national team will go on a month-and-a-half hiatus following a spring that saw them lift the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup and their seventh SheBelieves Cup. We’d say we’ve seen enough for a USWNT Olympic roster prediction.

Incoming USWNT head coach Emma Hayes will need to narrow the roster to 18 names for the Paris Olympics. She’ll have watched both tournaments and have a solid idea of who deserves to go.

Rising star Jaedyn Shaw sets new USWNT record in 2-1 comeback victory vs. Japan

The United States women’s national team mounted a 2-1 comeback victory vs. Japan in the SheBelieves Cup semifinal on Saturday in front of a record crowd in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 50,644 fans (the most ever for a non-World Cup or Olympic game on U.S. soil) in Mercedes-Benz Stadium sat stunned when Japan figuratively punched the USWNT in the mouth with a goal just 30 seconds into the game.

They’re back!! Mallory Swanson and Catarina Macario named to SheBelieves Cup roster

Mallory Swanson and Catarina Macario will make their long-awaited returns to the United States women’s national team after missing an extended period due to knee injuries.

Swanson’s last USWNT game was April 8, 2023, against the Republic of Ireland. During that game she suffered a gruesome torn patella tendon.

Macario returns after nearly two years with her previous national team appearance being a friendly vs. Uzbekistan on April 12, 2022. She tore her ACL that summer with her previous club Lyon.
