Has MLS Caught Up To Liga MX?

The talk of whether Major League Soccer has finally caught up to Liga MX is always a hot one. Especially with the Concacaf Champions League semifinals going on right now, LAFC may have the support of a whole league behind it.

The 2020 MLS All-Star Game, which would have put Liga MX All-Stars against MLS All-Stars was unfortunately canceled due to COVID-19. Also canceled were the 2020 Leagues Cup and 2020 Campeones Cup. The 2021 MLS All-Star Game under the same format is still planned, so fingers crossed everyone.

Former No. 1 Overall MLS SuperDraft Pick Jack Harrison Dazzles For Leeds United

I like to wait until clubs and players come face-to-face with Newcastle United before I pass judgement on them — I have yet to form an opinion on such things as Bayern Munich and Lionel Messi — but I’m now ready to give you the Tifo Football breakdown of Marcelo Bielsa’s freewheeling side: They’re much better than Newcastle.

Concacaf Legend Jerry Bengtson Becomes First Pro To Wear Mask During Match

The 2020 Concacaf Champions League resumed last night with leg two of Olimpia versus Montreal — 280 days after the Honduran side had disappointed 23,000 fans inside the Impact’s Olympic Stadium by snatching a crucial 2-1 road win.

Despite having to play the return leg at Exploria Stadium in Orlando — where the remainder of the competition will be staged — Olimpia advanced on away goals after Montreal could only find one through Amar Sejdič.

Thierry Henry is out; Olimpia plays Tigres in the semifinals on Saturday.

Columbus Crew Title Feels Really Freakin’ Good For Anthony Precourt Haters

Three years ago, it looked like Anthony Precourt was ready to pack things up in Columbus and take one of the 10 charter MLS clubs south to Austin. Everyone outside of Texas’ weirdest city grew to despise Precourt for trying to rip the Crew from America’s heartland.

Kathryn Nesbitt Becomes First Woman To Officiate A Major Men’s Championship Match In North America

History was made at the MLS Cup final on Saturday night. Kathryn Nesbitt became the first woman to officiate a championship match in a major men’s professional sport in North America.

MLS Is The Light At The End Of The Tunnel For Ozil As Three MLS Clubs Linked To Arsenal Exile

Mesut Özil hasn’t featured in an Arsenal game since March 7. The German midfielder has been shunned from the first team and was even left out of the Gunners’ Premier League and Europa League squads. With no playing time in sight, perhaps an Özil MLS move could happen in the near future.

According to an ESPN source, the 32-year-old said he is open to the idea of playing in the U.S. with an MLS club. His ludicrous £350,000-per-week contract with Arsenal ends in the summer, meaning a free transfer to MLS would be a real possibility.

MLS Cup Final Will Be Tarnished By Two Major Covid-19 Exclusions

Columbus Crew midfielder Darlington Nagbe confirmed on social media Friday that he tested positive for COVID-19.

His post on Twitter came one day after the Crew listed both Nagbe and fellow midfielder Pedro Santos as "medically not cleared to play" against the Seattle Sounders in the MLS Cup final on Saturday.
