Weston McKennie and Juventus will finish the 2021-22 season without a trophy. Ivan Perišić made sure of it with two well-taken goals — one with each foot — in extra time as Inter Milan claimed the Coppa Italia 4-2 on Wednesday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. 

In a wild, back-and-forth match that saw Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri shown a red card, Inter took full advantage of two penalty kicks and dominated extra time to claim its eighth Coppa Italia, trailing only Juventus (14) and Roma (9) for most all time. 

The Serie A title rice between Derby della Madonnina rivals Internazionale and AC Milan reached a crescendo this weekend when Inter, trailing 2-0 early, scored four straight against Empoli to win 4-2 and establish a one-point lead over Milan ahead of the Rossoneri's difficult away trip to Hellas Verona on Sunday.

Like Inter, Milan played with fire early and went behind in the 38th minute to an excellently worked Verona goal.  

Christian Pulisic needs to get out of Chelsea. Simple as that. 

The American star made an appearance as a substitute during Chelsea’s Sunday defeat to Everton. This was his ninth appearance off the bench in the Premier League this season and the fifth in a row. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel doesn’t seem to trust starting Pulisic, even if he comes off the bench and scores a game-winner.

The lack of playing time has helped spark Pulisic Juventus transfer rumors.

It was all set up for Inter Milan to retake the lead in the race for the Serie A title. Just beat 13th-place Bologna and the blue half of Milan would overtake the red half for first place with four games to go. 

Instead, backup goalkeeper Ionuț Radu committed one of the worst howlers in the history of European football. 

Bologna knocked off Inter Milan 2-1 thanks to a calamitous mistake from Radu, who whiffed on the ball from inside his own six-yard box, allowing Nicola Sansone to swoop in and poke home the match winner in the 81st minute.

Trailing Lazio 1-0 at halftime at Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Sunday night, AC Milan was witnessing the crushing end of its Serie A title chase. 

If the result held, Inter would stay top of the table with a game still in hand, and you wouldn't be on the Nerazzurri messing up twice in their final five matches with the most difficult test being a trip to 12th-place Udinese.

Juventus’ hopes as dark horse title challengers in Serie A took a blow today as the Italian giants dropped points at home to 13th-placed Bologna on Saturday. Juventus will be disappointed in drawing Bologna 1-1, but it could’ve been worse as a 95th minute equalizer from Dusan Vlahovic salvaged a point for the Old Lady.

M’Bala Nzola has been defeated by an earring. 

The 25-year-old Spezia forward enjoyed a brief 10-minute cameo during a 3-1 defeat to Inter Milan on Friday. The Angola international was subbed on in the 60th minute. Soon thereafter, the referee spotted he wearing earrings and told the player to take them off. By the 70th minute, Nzola was subbed off, apparently unable to remove his earrings. It was Spezia’s fifth and final substitution of the night.
