Smallest Soccer Stadiums In The Top Flights

Having the smallest stadium in the league isn't always something to be proud of, but sometimes the smallest ones make the most noise. This list looks at some of the smallest soccer stadiums in the world’s biggest top-flight leagues.

Have Yourself A Second Helping Of Champions League Tonight

After a wild afternoon of UEFA Champions League play, all we want is more. Thankfully the football doesn’t end here as the Concacaf Champions League knockout stages kickoff Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Can MLS finally compete with Liga MX? Will a club from another nation rise up? Or will the Mexican clubs once again prove their dominance over the region? The must-see match Tuesday is between MLS new giant LAFC and León, third place in the Clausura.

NYCFC Has Another Stadium Deal In The Works; Should We Get Excited Yet?

NYCFC has promised for years to build its very own stadium in one of the city’s five boroughs. According to the New York Times, the club may finally be nearing a deal — just don’t expect to watch a match in the new NYCFC stadium anytime soon.

The Slow, Depressing Death Of West Ham United

It took until the 67th minute, but it happened. Without fail, it always happens. With Liverpool leading West Ham 2-0 and supporters beginning their ascent up the stairs and out the door at London Stadium on Wednesday evening, the commentators on NBCSN began lamenting about how it all just doesn’t feel right.

Chelsea Becomes First Premier League Club To Go Vegan

With the transfer ban on Chelsea lifted and the team’s recent struggles, the Blues have their eyes on acquiring new assets in the transfer window. But a vegan-only kiosk might be the greatest acquisition thus far.

On Tuesday, Chelsea hosted London-rival Arsenal and looked to bounce back after losing to Newcastle during the weekend. The Blues secured one measly point after playing the majority of the match with a man advantage courtesy of a David Luiz red card.

American Pellegrino Matarazzo Named VfB Stuttgart Head Coach

Pellegrino Matarazzo, a native of New Jersey, was introduced as the new head coach of VFB Stuttgart on Monday, signing a contract that runs until June 2021. Matarazzo takes over from Tim Walter, who was sacked after the first half of the campaign following a run of inconsistent results and performances.

Zinedine Zidane Defends Gareth Bale After The Welshman’s Horrific Reception At The Bernabéu

It was a surreal moment on Saturday when Gareth Bale entered Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the 67th minute to a torrent of boos and jeers from the Santiago Bernabéu. Los Blancos supporters are a notoriously demanding bunch — even Cristiano Ronaldo received his share of whistles inside the legendary stadium — but nothing comes close to the reception that Bale was given upon replacing 18-year-old Brazilian phenom Rodrygo.

Seattle Sounders Deliver MLS Cup To Record-Setting Crowd With 3-1 Win Over Toronto

The Seattle Sounders captured their second MLS Cup in four years by defeating Toronto FC 3-1 at CenturyLink Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Sounders scored three second half goals to secure the victory in front of the largest sporting event crowd in CenturyLink Field history — 69,274 roared their approval when a deflected Kelvin Leerdam effort gave Seattle the lead in the 57th minute before Víctor Rodríguez’s cool finish doubled the advantage in the 76th. Raúl Ruidíaz cemented the club’s second-ever title with a strike of his own in the 90th.

Time To Run: There’s A Flaming Lion On The Roof Of This Stadium

The below video is footage of Estudiantes celebrating a return to Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi in La Plata, where the club played between 1907 and 2005 before a 14-year stay at Estadio Único.

I can’t confirm anything, but I’m pretty sure the construction workers — much like the dwarves of Moria — dug far too deep during their renovations of the stadium and unleashed a Balrog. I have no other explanation for this demonry.
