Viral: MLS fans demand season-long suspension for Guilherme Biro after dangerous tackle and red card

Guilherme Biro was sent off in the closing minutes of Austin FC's 2-1 loss against the LA Galaxy, and fans are asking for the Brazilian to receive a hefty suspension. It could very well be warranted.

During added time of the match between LA Galaxy and Austin FC on Saturday, a long ball sent into Riqui Puig, perfectly lobbed through Biro on the half-volley, sent the Spaniard flying following a clumsy tackle from the Austin defender. The Galaxy bench was sent into raging flames.

Weston McKennie’s superb tackle vs. RB Leipzig is exactly why Juventus can’t get rid of him

Juventus pulled off a dramatic comeback vs. RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday to win 3-2 despite being a player down. The club’s winning goal came after a brilliant Weston McKennie tackle on Leipzig star Xavi Simons.

In the closing minutes of the game Leipzig looked to have a dangerous counterattack on their hands with Simons leading the charge. McKennie, who had played the entire game, tracked him down and put in a perfect tackle to stop the attack.

Juventus would the go on to score the game winning goal with the possession that McKennie won back.

United States women’s national team defender Naomi Girma is cementing herself as the top center back in the world during the 2024 Summer Olympics. Her head coach Emma Hayes agrees as the 24-year-old has played every minute of the campaign so far.

Girma has led a stout USWNT defense to the gold medal match only conceding two goals in the process. Throughout the tournament Girma has had different center back pairings due to a Tierna Davidson injury.

Brazil players were in disbelief after Chris Richards’ yellow card was overturned and foul rescinded

The United States men’s national team’s 1-1 draw vs. Brazil had a number of talking points including a bizarre moment with a Chris Richards yellow card in the second half.

In the 51st minute Brazil forward Rodrygo was about to be in on goal until Richards brought him down outside of the penalty box. Honduran referee Said Martinez issued the American defender a yellow card and awarded Brazil a free kick in a dangerous position.

Kai Havertz seeking gold medal in diving at Olympics this summer with flop vs. Bournemouth

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz showed to the world that he’s a tremendous multisport athlete during his side’s 3-0 victory vs. Bournemouth on Saturday. Word on the street is that he’s eyeing up the Paris Olympics to represent Germany’s diving team.

Near the end of the first half Havertz displayed his incredible diving technique in Bournemouth’s penalty area. 

In the 42nd minute Havertz had perfect form on the “dangled leg tuck” dive only performed by the top divers in the world. He’d surely get all 10’s from the judges in Paris with a dive like this.

Dortmund defender Mats Hummels still fuming over penalty call vs. PSV

BERLIN — Borussia Dortmund were left fuming over a penalty decision in Tuesday's Champions League round of 16 first leg that earned hosts PSV Eindhoven a 1-1 draw.

Donyell Malen had scored a superb goal for the visitors against his former side before Eindhoven's Luuk de Jong converted the spot kick in the 56th minute at the Philips Stadion.

"Zero percent penalty, zero," Dortmund defender Mats Hummels said of his challenge on Malik Tillman.

Kevin Mac Allister shows he’s in NFL Playoffs spirit with exceptional open-field tackle

With the AFC and NFC Championships on the horizon the football spirit is at an all-time high. The feeling is apparently contagious with one case of football fever spotted in Belgium after a great Kevin Mac Allister tackle.

Argentine defender Mac Allister received a straight red card for a tackle during a Belgian Cup game between powerhouses Union Saint-Gilloise and Anderlecht.

Mac Allister’s teammate gave a half-hearted effort to bring down an opponent in on goal so the 26-year-old showed everyone how it’s done.

Watch: Referee grabs wrong color card and almost sends off Chris Richards

United States men’s national team defender Chris Richards had a heart-in-mouth moment on Wednesday when he was shown the first red card of his career. Thankfully for the 23-year-old the red card was immediately rescinded.

During Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea the American defender — who plays a defensive midfielder role for Palace — took one for the team and committed a foul to halt a counterattack.

In the 73rd minute Noni Madueke had successfully dribbled past Richards and the USMNT player tried to pull on the Chelsea forward’s shirt to slow him down.
