For more casual U.S. Soccer fans, it might have come as a shock to see someone by the name of Tyler Boyd start for the USMNT against Guyana and again against Trinidad and Tobago. Sure you know the likes of Michael Bradley, Gyasi Zardes and Paul Arriola. But who is this Boyd character that has been playing so well and why haven't we heard of him?

It’s been a vengeful week for U.S. Soccer. Last night at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, the USMNT romped to a 6-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago, exacting a small fraction of revenge for that frightful night in Couva. The win came only two days after the USWNT had vanquished its own personal demons by defeating Sweden at the Women’s World Cup.
When the USMNT failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, Michael Bradley became a major target of vitriol from U.S. fans. The son of a former coach, Bradley has been booed across the country since that fateful night in Trinidad and Tobago in October of 2017.
Bradley is too slow, too dumb, too useless, the critics say.

Just like the USWNT in the Women’s World Cup, the USMNT had to wait a long time to kick off the Gold Cup as the final team to kick off its campaign.

We have ourselves an international tournament this summer! The 2019 Gold Cup is almost here! It begins Saturday with Canada and Martinique kicking us off. The tournament is played every two years and includes 12 teams that qualify through regional tournaments in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
The U.S. men’s national team’s world standing is plummeting at the same time the women’s national team is soaring. The June FIFA rankings released on Friday saw the USMNT fall six places to 30th in the world, its worst ranking since 2017.
The USMNT is ready to begin Gold Cup group play after putting the finishing touches on 180 minutes of the most pathetic soccer you’ll ever see. After losing to Jamaica 1-0 in D.C. last Wednesday, the U.S. gave up three boneheaded first half goals to Venezuela in Cincinnati on Sunday en route to a 3-0 defeat.
After pulling off one of the upsets of the tournament, the USMNT U-20 squad’s run in the 2019 U-20 World Cup came to an end with a 2-1 loss to Ecuador on Saturday in Poland.
The Concacaf champions beat France in the Round of 16 to knock one of the favorites out of the tournament, but the CONMEBOL champions proved too much for the Baby Yanks.
It’s absurd. It’s preposterous. It’s the USMNT Gold Cup roster. I mean, would you look at this? I can’t believe this. These are the guys Gregg Berhalter thinks can defend our CONCACAF crown while simultaneously building a longterm project that’ll secure us our first-ever World Cup triumph in 2022?
Please, get outta here with this. Not these fools. I don’t like these guys; I don’t trust these guys.
