Wacky, wacky, what a wacky jersey Juventus has dropped for the 2022-23 season. Eye-sored? Yeah, me too.
But the Vecchia Signora is not the only team with a new look. Here is a roundup of the most relevant releases around the world.
Juventus 2022-23 Home Jersey
Of course, we have to start with Juve and its new stripes. What were they thinking?

Well, there is an official explanation from adidas, the kit manufacturer.
"The classic black and white stripes are reimagined with a new graphic element to represent the magic of Allianz stadium," says the press release. "In a new dynamic interpretation of the club's identity, the jersey draws inspiration from the five triangles of the star as a symbol of magic, creating a new visual icon."

Oh, it was art. Now I know why I didn't get it.
For me, it really seemed like a Jeep ran over the shirt and left its tires printed over the fabric. And speaking of Jeep, what are those lightning bolts over its logo? Is Jeep going electric?

Whatever it is, that is not good. I feel even Giorgio Chiellini, with an intricate Mona Lisa smile, looks glad he is leaving Juventus, and he doesn't need to wear the shirt for more than a couple of games until the end of the current season.
AS Roma 2022-23 Home Jersey
We keep the bus parked in Italy to talk about the new AS Roma kit.

Yes, there is a hint of a snob explanation behind the design ("a fusion of neoclassicism and modern art"), but it is way more digestible and elegant than the Juventus' attempt. I love the two-tone red, the pattern with the ASR badge from 1930 and the beloved Lupetto in the back with the message "Figli di Roma" (Children of Rome).

Well done, New Balance. Or at least better than last year.
Manchester United Retro Collection
OK, technically not a release for 2022-23, but this hommage recreating the looks of the 1990-92 seasons is too good not to mention. It is Peter Schmeichel, Steve Bruce, Paul Ince and Mark Hughes' era, just before they started to win everything, thanks to Alex Ferguson.
Rolling the clock back, @adidasoriginals have dropped a retro @ManUtd clothing collection, which features recreations of the 90/92 team & keeper shirts.

Watford 2022-23 Home Jersey
New coach Rob Edwards showed the world the jersey the Hornets will wear in the Championship 2022-23 season. Made by Kelme, the shirt has a subtle zigzag print and a couple of details celebrating 100 years of their home, Vicarage Road Stadium.

A big meh!
Borussia Dortmund 2022-23 Home Jersey
It seems weird to see Borussia Dortmund in stripes, but it is not. The German club uses them as a sort of palate cleanser from time to time.

A thing worth noticing about this particular design is that you can see a cool pattern over the black stripes, which is inspired by the Wildschütz, the old tavern where the club was founded in 1909.

Ah! Drinks and soccer, what a perfect marriage.
Stuttgart 1992-2022 Special Jersey
In the last game of the Bundesliga season, in which is is trying to avoid relegation, VfB Stuttgart will wear a special shirt.
✨ Out now! pic.twitter.com/xk5GqW1Vyn

The jersey made by Jako is a remake of the adidas-branded one they wore in the 1991-92 campaign, when the team lifted the fourth of the five national titles it can brag about.

The outcome of this work is simply spectacular.
AS Monaco 2022-23 Home Jersey
Crossing the border, we are now in France, where AS Monaco has a new version of the iconic diagonal designed by the U.S. actor Grace Kelly – or Princess Grace if you prefer – 62 years ago.

Whereas it is hard to try to add something new to the same concept, every single year, Kappa manages to pack a few details to make it distinctive. First, Kappa changed the colors of the sleeves from red to white, and then it added some in-tone diagonals created with the current club's slogan: "Rise. Risk. Repeat."

Stade Rennais 2022-23 Home Jersey
Lovely collaboration between Puma and Stade Rennais, a team owned by Salma Hayek's husband, François-Henri Pinault. The shirt has a red base and a few black details on the neck, the cuffs and the horizontal bar placed under the club's badge.

The print all over the fabric is an ermine, a traditional heraldic symbol present in the flag of Brittany, the French region that Stade Rennais calls home.
Club León 2022-23 Jerseys
Out of the title race, La Fiera is the first Mexican team to unveil its jersey for the 2022-23 cycle. The new attire made by Charly Fútbol celebrates 10 years since the team's return to Liga MX.
¡A PRIMERA!

In its signature emerald green, the home jersey displays the date of that historic promotion in roman numbers, as well as the names of the players who achieved it.
The feat is also present in the away jersey through a design that highlights newspaper clippings from the time.

Mexican teams are usually criticized for the overuse of sponsors in their jerseys, that they look like a section of classified ads. And I feel León here embraced that negativity for a very particular look, one that — unpopular opinion — I kind of like.
Atletico Mineiro Manto da Massa 2022
We just wrote about this shirt a couple of days ago. Atletico Mineiro has succeeded in calling on its fans to create one special jersey every year in a campaign named Manto da Massa (The People's Jersey), and the 2022 version doesn't disappoint.

The blackout kit — created by fan Will Rios — has several stripes inspired by the exterior of MRV Arena, the under-construction new Atletico Mineiro stadium. But there is more. You can also admire several vignettes with iconic moments in the club's history inside every bar.

The last touch? The logo for the club’s 114 years has the shape of a rooster, the team's mascot.
Any favorite?
