Un Puntín En Cámara Lenta Rescata A México En Su Debut En El Mundial Sub-20

El Tri Femenil pudo ganar, pero al final debió conformarse con un empate ante Nueva Zelandia.

La selección sub-20 femenil de México desperdició la chance de iniciar el Mundial de Costa Rica con un triunfo y debió conformarse con un amargo empate 1-1 ante Nueva Zelandia.

El Tri fue ampliamente superior a sus rivales, pero falló una oportunidad tras otra frente al pórtico defendido por Murphy Lyn Hunt-Sheaf. ¿Cifras? México tuvo 22 remates buscando el arco y que solo uno haya entrado habla de la farra vivida en el estadio Alejandro Morera Soto.

Para colmo, las cosas no comenzaron bien para el Tri. Justo cuando se cumplía la media hora de juego, una secuencia de errores en la fase defensiva mexicana permitieron a Nueva Zelandia abrir la cuenta. 

El festival de fallos comenzó con una pérdida de balón de Isabel Gutiérrez en el mediocampo y que dejó un forado a su espalda. Grace Wisnewski aprovechó el espacio para avanzar sin resistencia hasta lograr rango de tiro. Su remate luego rebotó en una Carol Cazares que le quitó la vista al balón – en vez de hacerle frente – y tras el desvío la golera Celeste Espino reaccionó de manera lenta y sin fuerza, fracasando en su intento de rechazo. 

Sí, es cierto que la pelota cambió de dirección, pero nada muy esquinado, dejando la sensación de que Espino claramente pudo haberlo hecho mucho mejor.

Para suerte del Tri, el empate llegó antes del mediotiempo. 

Una jugada tejida entre Natalia Mauleón y América Frías culminó con Anette Vásquez sacando un puntinazo que se metió al arco casi en slow-motion.

En la segunda parte, México se volcó sobre la portería neozelandesa, pero fue incapaz de concretar las chances creadas ante un elenco oceánico que resistió pese a sentir el rigor causado por la humedad, el calor y la altura costarricense.

El próximo partido de México será el sábado 13 de agosto (7 p.m. ET) ante Colombia, selección que sorprendió en el debut al vencer 1-0 a Alemania.
