Borussia Dortmund have announced the extension of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract with the club until 2020, according to the club's website. The Gabonese forward has been sought out by many European clubs, including Arsenal and Bayern Munich. His pace makes him an attractive player to many managers, but his talents will remain with Dortmund.
“I’m absolutely delighted that the next years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund. I feel very happy at the club, in this team and in this city. BVB has become like a second home to me,” Aubameyang said.
Aubameyang has played all over Europe, beginning with the AC Milan Youth Academy in 2007. His impact on the team in Germany has grown each season since his introduction in 2013. Last year he scored 25 goals in all competitions with 11 assists, coming close to doubling his tally from the season before.
The constant improvement to his individual and team playing ability under Jurgen Klopp in past seasons will surely make him one of many Bundesliga stars to keep an eye on for the upcoming season. Dortmund’s new manager Thomas Tuchel has already used Aubameyang for their first Europa Qualifier match, but has yet to score in competitive matches.
