We have seen the video you are about to see, and we have come to a conclusion: Geoffrey Acheampong has brass balls. If we had tried to do what he did when we were in high school, our coach would have hung us by our feet from the crossbar and let our teammates take PKs at us. The nerve.
Here is his coach's thought process: "That was dumb! Somebody sub for Geoffr-omigod YES!"
Maybe we shouldn't be too surprised that Acheampong is scoring goals like this, however. According to his coach, Peter Mack, Acheampong is a force to be reckoned with: "Geoffrey is the single best, most dominant player on the field every time we take it. He creates chaos for opposing defenses and then exploits it by finding the open teammate in the most dangerous position. Leave him alone, and he'll score; double or triple team him and he'll make the pass that gets somebody else a goal."
Acheampong came to the United States from Ghana in 2011 and quickly established himself as one of the top players on the Cate School soccer team. This season alone, Acheampong has had a hand in 21 of Cate's 28 goals, with 10 goals and 11 assists.
As of last week, Geoffrey signed a national letter of intent to play Division 1 soccer with the University of California Santa Barbara - so it might not be too long before we see Acheampong socring goals like this on a bigger stage.
