American owner of Botafogo has epic rant ‘you can red card me, it’s my stadium I’ll still be here’

American Botafogo owner John Textor had an all-time TV rant on Wednesday after his side lost a dramatic game to Palmeiras in Brazil’s Série A 4-3.

Botafogo sit top of the table with 59 points and Palmeiras sit second-place hot on their heels. The top of the table matchup saw Textor’s side take a 3-0 lead after 36 minutes.

Soon-to-be Real Madrid star Endrick got one back for Palmeiras in the 49th minute, but it looked like Botafogo would hold on for a win.

The momentum of the game shifted in the 76th minute when Botafogo’s Adryelson was given a red card. Palmeiras then scored three goals including a winner in the 99th minute.

Textor vehemently disagreed with the red card and gave this fiery post-game interview.

Now that’s how you give a rant.

Unfortunately for Textor, a look at the replay appears that the decision to award a foul was correct. Was it a straight red card? Up for debate.

You got to respect this level of passion from Textor who is the owner of Botafogo, Lyon, Lyon Féminin, OL Reign and a co-owner of Crystal Palace. That quote that it’s his stadium and he’ll still be here is electric.

He did get to witness one of the most exciting games of the season which came courtesy of 17-year-old Brazilian phenom Endrick. He had two must-see goals to lead the comeback.

Endrick will join Real Madrid next summer and could be one of the next big players in the world.

As for the Brazilian Série A, Botafogo have 59 points with a game in hand while Palmeiras have 56 points. There are only seven more matchdays to go.
