Sam Kerr signed with Chelsea in November of 2019. She’s yet to lose a league match with the Blues.
Kerr scored the opener as Chelsea eased past Aston Villa 4-0 on Tuesday. The win moved the Blues’ unbeaten streak in FA Women’s Super League action to 32, setting a new record and breaking a tie with Manchester City.

All Chelsea does these days is win (with an occasional draw). The team’s last loss in any competition came in the FA Cup quarterfinals in September, a surprising 2-1 setback to Everton. The club’s last league defeat came exactly two years ago Wednesday, a 3-2 loss to Birmingham City in 2019.
The Blues had 12 wins, three draws and no losses in the 2019-20 season. With nine wins, two draws and no losses this season, Wednesday’s win pushed Chelsea back level with Manchester United atop the WSL table. With a game in hand and superior goal difference, the unbeaten Blues are a clear favorite to win the league, especially after downing United 2-1 earlier this month.
Kerr made her debut with the London club in 2020 and helped her new side win the league title soon thereafter. (She was aided by the fact the FA refused to finish the women’s season while doing everything to complete the men’s seasons, so Chelsea won on points-per-game ratio.)
In her first full campaign in England, the Australian has scored once every 87 minutes of play, including eight in the WSL, which trails only Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema.
On Tuesday, she kicked off the scoring with a beautifully nonchalant volley that seemingly mocked the pathetic attempted clearance. Suck on that, she probably said.
Sam Kerr. Suck on that one.pic.twitter.com/7YeDlpwTed

The look on Aston Villa’s interim manager Marcus Bignot said it all.
Bethany England made it 2-0 at the half, with Kerr providing the assist.
A well-worked move from @ChelseaFCW.

Of course, Chelsea is loaded with talent across the board, and Pernille Harder and Magdalena Eriksson added goals in the second half to highlight that point.

While Chelsea’s men’s team continues to struggle — Thomas Tuchel’s first match in charge ended in a tepid 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton on Wednesday — the women are setting the standard in London.
