Sven-Goran Eriksson has been sacked as manager of Chinese second division club Shenzhen and has been replaced with Wang Baoshan. We know this because Shenzhen posted a poem on their website welcoming Wang as their new coach.
We are not making this up:
Eleven years ago, you led Shenzhen football and never let us down.
Nine years ago, you took over responsibilities and saved Shenzhen football.
Memories of fighting together have never gone away, and now we recall the legend.
For Shenzhen, we are reunited, starting a new trip together.
Coach Wang, welcome home.
This strikes us as a very good and cool way to announce a new coach, and soften the blow to the departing party.
Ideally, we would like for a poem to be written about every manager in the world, but we know that is far-fetched. However, several football managers are in dire need of poetic statements: Jurgen Klopp, Miguel Herrera, Louis van Gaal, Arsene Wenger, Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and (of course) Sam Allardyce. Y'all can start there, and move on once those are finished. So get to work, poets.
