Gio Reyna can’t stop scoring.
The USMNT youngster came off the bench and scored for Borussia Dortmund for the third time in his last three Bundesliga games on Saturday. This time he netted Dortmund’s fifth goal in a 5-1 destruction of SC Freiburg.

This was Reyna’s fifth league goal of the 2022-23 season which marks a career best for him. The most goals he’s had across all competitions in a single season is seven. We’re confident Gio will find the back of the net two more times before May.
Reyna has come off the bench to score all three of his previous goals.

Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic has emphasized that the American forward still isn’t at 100% health and the club is being cautious with him.
Injuries derailed Reyna’s previous season with a nagging hamstring issue that saw him miss 33 games for Dortmund. He’s also sat out injured for six games this season.
With all that injury context it’s understandable why Terzic is hesitant to start Reyna.
If what we’ve seen over the last three games is only a glimpse Reyna's power, then we can’t wait to witness 100% Gio.
Dortmund’s next game is a meeting with VfL Bochum in a DFB-Pokal Round of 16 clash on Wednesday.
Reyna and Dortmund sit third in the Bundesliga on 37 points, two points behind league leaders Union Berlin. Bayern Munich is in second with 37 points and can go top of the league with a win vs. Wolfsburg on Sunday.
