2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup basics

Teams playing in Concacaf W Gold Cup

A total of 12 teams will compete in the tournament featuring eight from Concacaf and four from South America.

• Concacaf teams qualified: USA, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama
• CONMEBOL team qualified: Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Paraguay

The final three teams from Concacaf will be determined by preliminary games on Feb. 17.

Format for Concacaf W Gold Cup

The tournament will consist of three groups of four teams. Each team will play three group stage games and the top two nations will advance to the quarterfinals.

The two best third-place teams will also advance to make up the eight teams in the quarterfinals. From that point forward it will be a standard bracket of single-elimination games.

A draw will take place to decide the groups. The USWNT are the No. 1 team in Group A, Brazil are the top team in Group B and Canada are top of Group C. The draw takes place on Dec. 11.

Venues for Concacaf W Gold Cup

Teams will stay in the same city for all their group games. Here’s the breakdown of who will play where.

• Group A: The USWNT and the other teams drawn into Group A will play all their group games at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
• Group B: Brazil and the other teams drawn into Group B will play all their group games at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California. Snapdragon Stadium will also host the semifinals on March 6 and the final on March 10.
• Group C: Canada and the other teams drawn into Group C will play all their group games at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.
• Quarterfinals: All four quarterfinal games will be played at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Those games will be played on March 2 and March 3.
