Three days away from turning 41 and with over 20 years of a career, Roque Santa Cruz keeps scoring and did so by bagging the goal of the week, and maybe even month in Paraguay.
Santa Cruz Golazo vs. Sol de América
In a league clash against Sol de América with the score tied 1-1 in the 80th minute, Santa Cruz pulled off one of the best goals we’ve seen this month.
He left not one, not two, but three defenders and the keeper in the dust.

Cold as ice. Vintage Roque Santa Cruz.
A European Career To Envy
When we talk about players and strikers that have kept the bar high for themselves in the last years of their career, we have to mention Roque Santa Cruz.
After debuting for Olimpia in Paraguay in 1999, Santa Cruz played for clubs like Bayern Munich, Blackburn, Manchester City, Real Betis, Malaga and even Cruz Azul in Liga MX.
In 2017 and with 36 years of age, the Guaraní returned to his boyhood club and let me tell you, he has not stopped scoring since.
The striker just turned 41 and he bagged one heck of a goal last weekend.
A Goal Scoring Rebirth In Paraguay
Since his arrival back in Paraguay, the striker has scored 52 goals and provided 12 assists in 132 games.
A timeless goalscoring threat.
In 2022 alone, with 40 years of age and after taking a move to Libertad, El Babygol has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 28 games.
There's not a single player in the world who is 40 and has that amount of goals scored this year.

The definition of old but gold.
We’re not sure when the iconic Guaraní will decide to hang his boots up for good. Though, if he’s putting up numbers and scoring goals like these at 41 years old, we could be seeing much more of the prolific South American goal scorer for time to come.
