Javier Mascherano has quickly settled in with his new club in China, Hebai China Fortune. In fact, he already has a nickname: Pony Brother.
That, we must admit, is a far better nickname than the one given to fellow Argentinian and former Shanghai Shenua striker Carlos Tevez, a.k.a. Very Homesick Boy.
Pony Brother sounds like something you'd nickname a badass cowboy who's good at breaking wild stallions. Very Homesick Boy is the annoying city slicker, come to check on the ranch at the bequest of the ranch's billionaire owner. He did not bring any boots. He does not own any boots.
It's like a stereotypical plot for a Western movie. That's fun. We're having fun.
Of course, Very Homesick Boy did go home as soon as he got the chance, even though in China he was one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. It will be interesting to see how Pony Brother lives up to his nickname.
