Liverpool spent the last few days training in Palo Alto, California, as part of their USA tour, and during that time Liverpool's training staff found time to take on that of Stanford University in a friendly.
What happened next will shock and outrage you.
The match finished 1-1, but Liverpool's goal — and I say this as a noted Liverpool fan — should not have counted. That the referee allowed this goal is some kind of travesty of officiating that would even make Dan Tan embarassed. You can see the goal at the 3:25 mark of the video below, or you can watch the whole thing if you want to watch some old out of shape guys try to play 11 vs. 11 soccer.
This is what a miscarriage of justice looks like. There are so many things wrong with this call I don't even know where to begin. The referee had a terrible angle. From the camera's angle, which was slightly better, it looked like the ball did not cross the line. Conveniently, there was no assistant referee to tell the main referee he was wrong.
Also, the referee in question is a Liverpool press officer. Conflict of interest much? Wake up sheeple!
