For every athlete, there are times when you try something that just doesn’t come off, unless you’re Neymar playing against Dijon. But for those who aren’t Neymar, it’s important to keep trying new moves, at least if you’re on the offensive end. This Florian Thauvin goal vs Caen was wonderful proof of persistence paying off as the Marseille winger ensured a 2-0 victory for his side in Ligue 1 action Friday.
Thauvin messed up two times before finally getting it right to scored a brilliant goal for Marseille.

The Thauvin goal vs Caen began when he received a long pass to switch the field. After attempting a few moves to make room for a pass to the overlapping right back, the Frenchman’s attempted pass wide was blocked.
Quickly reacting to the deflection, Thauvin regained control of the ball and decided to have a go from distance. This shot too was blocked, but again it fell back to Thauvin.
At the third time of asking, the former Newcastle man decided to shoot not with power but with accuracy, curling in a beautiful effort from just outside the 18-yard box.
The goal gave Marseille a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute after Dimitri Payet had converted from the spot in the 55th minute. The three points allowed OM jumped ahead of Lyon into second place, nine points back of PSG, though both rivals have a game in hand to play this weekend.
