It’s been a good season for Miguel Layun, and Layun's top ten goals prove it. The El Tri star has been a staple of the national team and has also been on fire for his club team, Porto. Most recently assisting in the 5-0 thrashing of Boavista to keep the Dragons 4 points within striking distance of 1st place Sporting. The 27-year-old is traditionally a left-back by trade but no one would blame soccer fans if you all confused him for a winger. His ability to make drives down the wings have paid dividends for Porto and Mexico. The versatile player has now notched three goals this season and two assist for Porto, and so far two assist for country. It’s been a tremendous season for Layun who has had the benefit of having two fellow Mexican stars to work with, Jesus “Tecatito” Corona and Hector Herrera.
His ability to be such an asset in attack and defense has a lot to do with his tireless work-ethic on the wing, which enables him to continue making runs down the wing without ever slowing down. He also proven to be an amazing crosser, setting up players with great opportunities in the box. Not only does he set up crosses but he takes the time to shoot from outside of the box. He’s a tremendous defender that will only continue to blossom at Porto, hopefully assisting the team and new coach Rui Barros in beating Sporting to the finish line.
Layun has scored 16 goals in the entirety of his career. As a defender by trade, that is a remarkable feat and at only 27, he’ll continue to add to that tally. The goals we have selected demonstrate his versatile ability in scoring. Chipped goals, long-distance goals, free-kick goals, etc. He can score from basically anywhere. His goals are true golazos.
Now on that note, let’s check out Layun's Top Ten Goals Of All Time:
