Queens Park Rangers could face the wrath of the FA in the near future after their fans threw a series of missiles at celebrating Chelsea players.
After Cesc Fabregas scored a late winner, a majority of the Chelsea squad gathered near the sideline in celebration, where they were duly assaulted by various flying accoutrement; cigarette lighters, coins, bottles, and various other ubiquitous stadium stuffs were all thrown at the players. Branislav Ivanovic was reportedly hit by a cigarette lighter.
Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho was calm in his comments about the situation.
“The game was correct. Correct on the pitch, correct in the stands,” he said. “Hopefully correct outside. Not easy, because emotionally it was a big game for them and us. The referee also helped, a very stable man who solves, not creates, problems in the game.”
His calmness was not without an added layer of mockery reserved for the QPR fans in question.
“If somebody threw a pound, put the pound in your pocket and go. If it’s a chocolate, eat it. No problem.”
