PSG cruised to a 3-1 away win against Rennes on Sunday thanks to goals from Angel Di Maria, Thomas Meunier, and Eric Maxim Chuopo-Moting. They sit atop Ligue 1 with a five-point cushion above second place Lille.

Though the club’s star Brazilian talent did not get on the score sheet this weekend, he was an integral piece of the side’s performance as a No. 10 in the middle of the park, assisting Meunier with a clinical through ball in the 61st minute.
One of Neymar’s biggest highlights from the game did not come from the run of play, however. While being subbed off in the dying minutes, an emotional pitch-invader approached the superstar. Neymar consoled the young fan and gave him his jersey to raucous applause from onlookers before the boy was whisked away by stewards.

Neymar’s substitution was not considered an “awww” moment by the many PSG supporters after the game, who speculated that the 26-year-old was upset at being subbed off. However, Neymar told reporters after the game, "They even thought I asked to wait a little, but no. I went to apologize for the wrong pass I gave to Thomas [Meunier]. Of course, no player likes to leave the game, but now this isn't the case for me to be angry at having left the pitch today, it's even good for me to recover for the next game.”
The Brazilian, of course, is used to being labelled a drama king. Hopefully the talking point of Neymar’s substituion can focus on this kind gesture that made a kid’s life as opposed to the suspected discontentment of the sub.
