The latest Sergiño Dest transfer rumors could be good news for USMNT fans. Dest could be headed for the very team that sent his Barcelona to the disgraceful depths of the Europa League, Bayern Munich.
At the rate Barcelona is capitulating, the Catalan club could miss the 2022-23 Champions League altogether. After 15 LaLiga games played, the club sits one position behind a Europa Conference League spot. Dest’s potential departure is coming before the real madness goes down in Barcelona.
The rumor going around is that Dest, Frenkie De Jong and Marc Andre Ter-Stegen could all be heading out this transfer window in an attempt to stop some of Barcelona’s financial bleeding.

#USMNT DF Sergiño Dest (21) is looking to leave Barcelona and has been in contact with Bayern Munich, who had interest in the defender last year.

According to Spanish media, Dest isn’t Xavi’s first choice for starting and could be in a battle for minutes in the future. Since Xavi’s arrival to Barcelona Dest has started two out of a possible four games and only gone the full 90 minutes once.
The challenge for the starting position at Bayern Munich won’t be a cakewalk under any circumstances. Benjamin Pavard has the right back spot locked down with little challenge from Bouna Sarr or Josip Stanisic, who are both out injured. Dest will need to seriously impress in order to become a playmaker for Germany's top club.
Bayern was in the hunt to sign Dest back in 2020 when Barcelona swooped up the American from Ajax. The upcoming winter transfer window could be the Bavarian giant’s chance to take what was stolen.
If the transfer does surface, then Dest’s quest to win a Champions League title is back in the cards. UEFA changed the rule on Champions League eligibility several years ago, so even though Dest played in the group stage with Barcelona, he could still represent Bayern in the knockout stages.
