Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo formed one of the most devastating strike partnerships in recent memory. Together, they brought wild success to a Manchester United club where there was no alternative given the pressure and the demands of the fans and media. It's truly impressive what Rooney and Ronaldo accomplished as Red Devils. They should both get testimonials in our opinion, but the Wayne Rooney testimonial will have to do.
Ronaldo has moved to the greener (or whiter, we guess) pastures of Real Madrid, but Rooney has remained at Old Trafford, and now Manchester United have announced the testimonial for one of their best-ever strikers.
And Ronaldo will (reportedly!) be in attendance.
That's right, one of the most destructive strike partnerships in recent memory will join forces one more time to wreak havoc on their opponents...in a friendly where the proceeds will be given to charity.
Still, it'll be nice for United fans to see Cristiano wearing red again, if a little bittersweet, knowing that in all likelihood he will never do so again.
The testimonial is set for August 3, 2016.
