Tyler Adams will need another surgery and be out for rest of 2023

United States men’s national team captain and Bournemouth defensive midfielder Tyler Adams is expected to be out until February 2024 with a hamstring issue.

Adams already missed six months of action this year after suffering a hamstring injury that required surgery in March.

The 24-year-old made one appearance for his new club Bournemouth in September before reaggravating his hamstring issue.

According to The Athletic, Adams underwent a second surgery in early October. The recovery time is estimated to take four months.

Tyler Adams hamstring injury

This truly is a worst-case scenario for Adams.

The American midfielder was relegated with Leeds United last season but personally avoided the EFL Championship by making a $25 million move to Bournemouth. The Cherries’ decision to purchase the injured American has backfired.

Bournemouth are looking like relegation favorites with just three points — all from draws — in the first eight games of the 2023-24 campaign.

The club have conceded 13 goals through the first eight games which is tied for second worst in the league. They could desperately use Adams’ defensive skillset.

As for national team duty, the hamstring issue will see Adams miss all of 2023. His last appearance came vs. Netherlands in the World Cup.
