Wales right back Chris Gunter can take comfort in the fact that he is the undisputed favorite child in his family.
We know this because the Gunter parents had to choose between attending Chris's soccer game against Portugal on Wednesday in France or his brother Marc's wedding on Thursday in Mexico. This is not a parenting situation we would want to be in, although there are worse decisions than "go on vacation in France or go on vacation in Mexico." They picked the soccer game.
From The Mirror:
But Chris will not be the only one to miss the ceremony – his parents Sarah and Gerald have also opted to be at Wednesday’s historic semi-final against Portugal in Lyon instead of at their son’s nuptials.
Chris, 26, said: “Mum is a bit upset at having to choose. It has caused chaos.
“You couldn’t begin to imagine the trouble it’s caused. I’m not sure what Marc will do if we make the final. He might be divorced by then.”
It's important to note the Gunter family will still take part in the ceremony via Skype (Chris plans to make the best man speech from across the pond), but there cannot be any doubt as to who the favorite child is. Congratulations, Chris. Marc, maybe you should have been a little more well-behaved as a youth.
I asked two of my coworkers who have kids (there are not very many in this office) whether they have a favorite child, and the answers were "no" and "yes, but it changes every day." Clearly, the Gunters do not have this sort of attitude. Chris is the favorite. End of story.
Chris may be the favorite, but that makes three less wedding guests Marc has to pay for, so he's the real winner here.
