Wayne Rooney has forged many great partnerships on the field over the years: Ronaldo; Tevez; Berbatov; Van Persie; Van Nistelrooy. But those pale in comparison to his latest partnership: Wayne Rooney and Deadpool.
That's right. Everyone's favorite hair-plugged Evertonian meets everyone's favorite foul-mouthed vigilante in a match made in brand marketing heaven.
The stunt is in recognition of United's new partnership with 20th Century Fox, which was announced Friday on Manchester United's official site. Check out this video of Deadpool and the Manchester United team in an intense penalty shootout.
Is that a regulation-sized goal? Somehow, we don't think so.
The partnership will see Fox plaster the advertising boards and press conference backdrops at Old Trafford with promotions for upcoming movies from the film-production giants, and will also provide digital entertainment for fans at home games. 20th Century Fox will also provide exclusive content to fans on the company's various digital platforms. It's still not clear what that content will be exactly (It better be bringing MUTV back to the States, you miserly bastards).
Usually, big corporate deals make our eyes glaze over, but in this case...it's Wayne Rooney and Deadpool. Why not?
