After a disappointing loan spell at Hamburg SV in the Bundesliga, American 20-year-old Julian Green will give it another go at Bayern Munich in 2015/16.
He will start out in the U23s, where he will attempt to establish himself in the first team, and help the side win promotion to the German 3rd division.
The news that Green will go back to Bayern, despite reported interest from other European and MLS clubs, comes from his agent, Roman Grill, who told Kicker that Green “will give it his all…in the under-23s. Another loan or even a transfer is out of the question."
Green scored a late goal in the USMNT’s defeat to Belgium in the 2014 World Cup, a defeat that ended their World Cup campaign. He is one of the brightest prospects that the team has, although his star has dimmed in the past year. Green failed to impress at Hamburg, and in doing so threw into doubt his future at Bayern Munich.
Green will hope to rediscover the scoring touch he had for Bayern’s reserves, one that saw him score 15 goals in 15 games between July 2013 and October 2013.
