Mesut Ozil Retires From German National Team Due To “Racism And Disrespect”

Mesut Ozil has retired from international football at the age of 29, citing “racism and disrespect” from the German football federation (DFB). Ozil had 92 caps for Germany and helped the nation capture third place at the 2010 World Cup before lifting the trophy in 2014. The Arsenal playmaker issued a detailed statement on Twitter with the main contents concerning the fallout of his meeting with Turkish president Recep Tayyip before the World Cup.

Here are his statements in full, read them (click/tap) before commentating:

The Beautiful Meaty French Forehead Of Olivier Giroud Is About To Get Meatier

Admirers of beauty around the world felt a strong disturbance in the force on Saturday. The mere thought on an Olivier Giroud shaved head will do that.

Some folks are blessed with gorgeous faces, chiseled chins and beautiful hair. Others, like myself, would love to have just one of those traits. Giroud firmly falls into the former category, the Frenchman looking more like a model than a footballer.

Alberto Moreno Pulls Off A Poetic Double Nutmeg Like A Young Rimbaud

After playing 56 games last season, Liverpool FC basically said to hell with it and just kept playing. This 25-Foot Jeff Goldblum Statue Is Proof Arsenal Will Win The Premier League This Season

Arsenal fans are in a weird place right now. Longtime manager Arsene Wenger is gone after 22 years, but a strong roster has been supplemented by positive moves in the summer transfer window under new coach Unai Emery

There’s the hope new management can propel the talented team back into contention in England and Europe, but also the fear of slipping into irrelevance just as Manchester United struggled after the retirement of Alex Ferguson.

Liverpool Smashes World-Record GK Transfer Fee To Sign Alisson From Roma

Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson is on his way to England for a medical after agreeing to a transfer to Liverpool. Three months ago, AS Roma president James Pallotta said that Alisson would not be sold, even for a massive “sack of money.” But when that sack of money turned out to be $87.4 million — shattering the previous most expensive goalkeeper transfer — the Italian club just couldn’t refuse.

Arsene Wenger Reflects On 22 Years At Arsenal With Pride, Passion, Regret

In May, Arsenal's former boss Arsene Wenger bade farewell to the English club after 22 years, seven FA Cups and three Premier League titles. Now, in a lengthy interview with France’s RTL, Arsene Wenger shed some reflective light on his journey with the Gunners.

Will Maurizio Sarri Be As Good Or Better Than Antonio Conte?

After Antonio Conte’s sacking as Chelsea manager, owner Roman Abramovich summoned the Dark Lord himself to choose the next victim. With careful consideration, or possibly none, former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has been chosen as the next sacrifice, I mean manager.

The 58-year-old started his managerial career in 2005 with Pescara and continued managing another six minor Italian clubs before his move to S.S.C. Napoli in 2015. With “the Little Donkeys,” Sarri revived the almost forgotten club by reforming the playing methods that Rafael Benitez established before.

Aubameyang Scores 10-Minute Hat Trick In 8-0 Win In Unai Emery’s Arsenal Debut

Unai Emery made his debut on the Arsenal bench as the Gunners routed Boreham Wood 8-0 on Saturday at Meadow Park in London. The match kicked off at the same time as the England-Belgium World Cup third-place match, but the Emery Arsenal debut provided far more action than the Three Lions in Russia.
