To look at the history of American soccer is to look at a series of poor investments, aging player, and over-ambitious owners. They all had a vision of what soccer could be in the states, but most ended up in the graveyard that we currently stand on.

First came the NASL. Founded in 1968, it spent like a major league, and attendances occasionally reflected that, but its ambitions were not sustainable compared to its actual growth.

Before last night, casual U.S. soccer fans may not have had any idea who Haji Wright is. After last night's impressive 3-0 win against Morocco, that changed. Wright came on as a halftime substitute and immediately impressed, with a series of clever flick-on passes in build-up play and surging runs into the box that showcased his attacking threat. It was his 64th-minute penalty conversion, however, that Wright and USMNT fans alike will never forget. 

After announcing that Real Madrid's 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League final was his last match for the club, Marcelo was fittingly the star of the show during Sunday's trophy parade.

Marcelo joined from boyhood club Fluminense in 2007 and spent 16 seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu. He finishes his Real Madrid career as the most decorated player in the club's illustrious history with 25 trophies, including five Champions League triumphs, six LaLiga titles and two Copa del Rey crowns.
