Kelley O’Hara Update: Still Slamming Budweiser

The worst part about Vlatko Andonovski’s new-look USWNT is probably the absence of right back Kelley O’Hara. There’s nothing Andonovski could do to change that — O’Hara is still dealing with an ankle injury that forced her to miss a significant portion of the NWSL season.

So the Utah Royals defender is currently continuing her recovery in Washington, D.C., where her partner lives. Last we saw of O’Hara, she was chugging Budweiser in Paris…

Time To Run: There’s A Flaming Lion On The Roof Of This Stadium

The below video is footage of Estudiantes celebrating a return to Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi in La Plata, where the club played between 1907 and 2005 before a 14-year stay at Estadio Único.

I can’t confirm anything, but I’m pretty sure the construction workers — much like the dwarves of Moria — dug far too deep during their renovations of the stadium and unleashed a Balrog. I have no other explanation for this demonry.

Joga Bonito Or Capoeira? Brutal Scything Challenge Answered With Kick To Chest

What does Joga bonito mean?

Well, we can show you what it doesn’t mean.

Joga bonito usually refers to Brazilians playing the beautiful game beautifully, as only Brazilians can. Think 1970 Brazil in full flowing force or the 2002 Canaries zipping past all comers. It’s Pelé, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.

But this clip out of Brazil on Saturday shows the complete opposite of Joga bonito, looking more like capoeira than anything else.

USWNT Does Meet And Greet With Pack Of Good, Helpful Dogs

New USWNT manager Vlatko Andonovski begins his reign tonight with a friendly against Sweden at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, and I’ve got to say, he’s already impressed me with his training methods.

Let me show you Exhibit A and then I rest my case.

Tottenham Involved In One Of The Great Goalmouth Scrambles Of Our Time

Tottenham has constructed one of the greatest goals of all-time, if you — like me — look at goalmouth scrambles like you look at the Sagrada Família.

We’ve Discovered Why CD Leganés Is In Last Place In LaLiga

It’s been a pretty disastrous start to the LaLiga season for Madrid-based CD Leganés. This is the club’s fourth consecutive season in the Spanish top flight but after achieving its highest-ever finish last campaign (13th), Los Pepineros look destined for a drop to the Segunda División.

With the club languishing in last place, manager Mauricio Pellegrino was sacked on Oct. 21 following a winless streak of nine matches. Mexican manager Javier Aguirre was appointed on Nov. 4 and he’s now tasked with saving this sinking ship.

Something For Everyone: David Beckham And Lady Gaga Are Looking Real Good Together

There was an ad I saw on Twitter today starring two really, really good-looking people. Oh my. You may know them as Sir David Beckham and Lady Gaga. I know what you’re thinking, “Lady Gaga? Isn’t that the sister of Garry Gaga?”

Yup, that’s the one.

But here’s Garry’s sister talking with Golden Balls in an ad for . . . I don't know what. Regardless, I think they're doing a great job.

The Return Of The Jabulani: Carabao Cup Shows That A Supermarket Ball Is Still The Best Ball

If you’re an American, there’s absolutely every chance that you missed Wednesday’s Carabao Cup Round of 16 fixtures . . . unless you called in sick, which would be grounds for an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary starring you.

3 Clubs Could Win Sweden’s Allsvenskan On The Final Day, So It’s Getting Wild Up In Scandinavia

For me, this is quickly turning into the week of the Swedish Allsvenskan. It’s hit hard and fast, making me question why I waste so much time watching the Premier League and LaLiga. The unfortunate part is that I missed the first 29 weeks of the 2019 season, leaving me with only one match day to get my ass up to speed. (Although I did know about AIK's fine threads.)

10 Of The Greatest Nutmeg Reactions Ever

Nutmegs — alongside cross-field rakers, back heels and an inordinate amount of step-overs — constitute one of the greatest forms of artistry in our beautiful game. The act of the nutmeg is equal parts illusion and imagination; it transcends the simple reality of moving the ball from Point A to Point B and replaces it with something sublime. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, a nutmeg tells us of beautiful, untrue things. (After all, a nutmeg is rarely ever a decisive moment.)
