Bundesliga teams returned to training this week following their winter break, and however much he protests to the contrary, Pep Guardiola is still the undisputed Tsar of Tiki-Taka. Currently 11 points clear at the top of the table, Guardiola’s Bayern Munich have completed a staggering 12,566 passes so far this season. That’s 739 per game and a whopping 45% more than the second highest total (Wolfsburg).
And, if recent footage of Bayern in training is anything to go by, Pep doesn't intend to resort to agricultural long-ball football any time soon. As you can see for yourselves, the Bavarians are still very much in favor of dizzying displays of passing, relentlessly drilled through hour upon hour of one-touch interplay:
All of which will likely make pretty dismal - nay, tiring - viewing for Bayern's domestic and European rivals. Practice makes perfect, after all, and this is what they can already do to one of the most expensively assembled teams on the planet:
