Earlier this summer, Diego Costa broke Chelsea fans’ hearts everywhere when he confirmed that he was not in manager Antonio Conte’s plans for next season. However, according to the Brazilian/Spanish forward, the news was not relayed to him in the typical office-sit-down sort of chat. Rather, Conte reportedly told Costa his fate via text message.
The saga and lack of professionalism continued this weekend when Costa partied in Lagarto, Brazil wearing the unmistakable Atleti stripes. If dawning this jersey did not hammer home the point quite enough that he’s wiped his hands of Chelsea, Costa told fans to “give Conte a hug for him.”

The ball is in Conte’s court. Will he unleash a bombardment of texts? Block Costa altogether? Rise above the drama?
It seems the striker will be the one aching for longer in this split, however. His boyhood club Atletico are forbidden from signing new players until January 2018.
