In a goal completely fitting for our time and climate, Valencia’s Gonçalo Guedes was faced with one shitstorm after another while sprinting nearly the length of the pitch in possession on Sunday, but the 23-year-old attacker persisted.
His reward — after taking the ball around one defender, beating a second while falling over him, cutting past a third and drifting inside a fourth — is one of the finest individual goals we’ve seen since football’s return.

Guedes’ effort opened the scoring for Los Che in the 12th minute, and Rodrigo made it 2-0 in the 35th. That would be the final scoreline as Valencia remained in eighth-place on 46 points. Osasuna is in 12th, nine points above the relegation zone.
