Darren Farley saved Liverpool's season. At least, for me he did. After the team's mediocrity, injury problems, suspensions and contract disputes, Liverpool's seaon has been a dark cloud behind which there didn't appear to be a silver lining. But Darren Farley, a pudgy Liverpool fan with an uncanny knack for footballer (and manager) impressions, has turned my season from unbearable to patently hilarious. Now, whenever I see Steven Gerrard give an interview I'm waiting for him to say "yea, of course" and I keep rooting for Brendan Rodgers to call someone a technician. Farley isn't a new talent — he's been doing his schtick for years — but I hadn't heard of him until one day, fed up with Liverpool's crappiness, I was scrolling through Steven Gerrard goal videos to cheer myself up and I found this:
I was hooked, so I journeyed down the proverbial rabbit hole and came to the conclusion that Darren Farley is a comedic genious. He doesn't just do Steven Gerrard, either. Here's Brendan Rodgers:
