Barcelona’s transfer ban has apparently not stopped them from bidding on one of, if not the biggest, talents in the world: Juventus’ Paul Pogba. Unable to sign players until next summer, Barcelona reportedly bid €80 million for Pogba, which would have made him one of the most expensive players of all time.
The future of Paul Pogba is one of the most intriguing prospects in sports. A transcendent talent, Pogba is widely considered to be next in line to be one of the very best players in the world, and with Ronaldo and Messi likely declining as Pogba reaches his prime, he could become the best player in the world.
Such potential has put Juventus in a very enviable position: they will either keep Pogba or make a record amount of money off of his sale. Adding the decline of Barcelona’s €80 million to the reported €79 million big that Juve “agreed upon," we can see that Juventus has no thoughts of selling their crown jewel on the cheap.
As the world’s best and richest clubs come calling for Pogba more and more, it will be one of the greatest transfer sagas of all time, the likes of which could rival that of Gareth Bale’s sale to Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur two years ago.
