Luis Enrique has promised a return leg for the ages at Barcelona’s Camp Nou on Wednesday night. The Barca manager says that his side will have no choice but to attack for 90 minutes, and he believes that will allow Juventus to get forward with a sucker punch of their own.
Bearing that in mind, Enrique says the aim for Barcelona is five goals to counteract a Juve away goal. “This time we have to score less goals, only three, but keeping in mind [Juve] could score, our objective tomorrow is to score five,” he revealed.
When told of Massimiliano Allegri’s target of two away goals for Juventus, Enrique responded by saying, “If he says that then I will have to redo my calculations and make our objective six.”
Enrique also implored the Camp Nou support to stay throughout the entirety of the match, no matter the scoreline. “If we score the first goal, Camp Nou will score the second and the third will come on its own…We have nothing to lose,” he said. “We have one option, which is to attack, attack and keep attacking.”
Enrique’s statements regarding the flow of goals mirrors the caution urged by Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini. “They are like sharks: they feel it, they smell blood. You have to keep them far from the door,” he said. “We are half way, we have to try to score goals playing short, but without fear. We need to slow Barcelona’s game down, and to score a goal would be a decisive injection of confidence.”
Barcelona will welcome the return of Sergio Busquets from suspension and injury doubts Javier Mascherano, Arda Turan and Jeremy Mathieu all trained with the squad on Tuesday.
