We entered the FA Cup Fourth Round with three massive underdogs to cheer for — fourth division sides Newport County and Oldham Athletic and fifth division Barnet, the only non-league side remaining in the competition. Unfortunately, Oldham got dumped out by Doncaster, but Newport forced a replay against Middlesbrough.
Then, today, Barnet kept its own dream alive by playing to a thrilling 3-3 draw against second division Brentford at The Hive Stadium in front of a record crowd. The draw means that Barnet’s forced a replay at the home of the Championship club.
The match was scoreless until the 40th minute, but in 25 madcap minutes splitting the first and second halves, we witnessed six goals. The pick of the bunch is certainly the strike that forced the replay, scored by Barnet’s Daniel Sparkes in the 75th minute. This is some way to keep your team’s magical Cup run going.
