The defending champion of Europe and LaLiga is about to begin another quest for dominance. The potential Real Madrid starting XI 2022-23 has more options and scenarios than manager Carlo Ancelotti has trophies.
Madrid said farewell to Marcelo, Isco and Gareth Bale this summer but picked up some reinforcements. This team also has a ludicrous number of talented midfielders. Ancelotti will have a tough time deciding his starters, but this is the lineup that’s most likely to feature next season.
Potential Real Madrid Starting XI 2022-23
Let’s start at the top and work down the Real Madrid starting XI.
Up front consists of three players from last season. Karim Benzema and Vinícius Jr. have become a formidable duo. The attacking pair led all of Europe at one point with the most combined goals together and are must-starts for next season.
The starting job for right wing is more open and arguments could be made for Rodrygo or Marco Asensio. There have been some rumors that Liverpool and Newcastle have their eyes on Asensio.

One other question mark for Real Madrid's attack will be if Eden Hazard can finally have a breakout season. The Belgian hasn’t delivered for Madrid since his arrival, but perhaps the 2022-23 season is his moment to shine.
The midfield of Real Madrid has a beautiful problem: so much talent, only three spots. The midfield mess only grew when Real Madrid made the most expensive signing of the summer to bring in French defensive midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni for roughly $84 million.

The old guard and new guard exists fully in the Madrid roster. One could pick the ageless midfield dynasty of Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos and Casemiro. On the other hand, the new wave of Federico Valverde, Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga is waiting in the wings. Good luck picking a starting three, Ancelotti.
In defense, the arrival of Antonio Rüdiger from Chelsea has added some competition to the two starting jobs at center back. Éder Militão, David Alaba and Nacho Fernández might not have to worry about Rüdiger if he keeps getting himself in trouble during training by tackling his teammates too hard.

The right and left backs remain the same for Real Madrid, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Lucas Vázquez get some starts at right back too.
With so many options to pick, it’s only right if a second starting XI is added.
