It’s tough being a soccer fan, sometimes. You spend all your effort and energy trying to keep an eye on two tantalizing Champions League Round of 16 matches and then the best goal of the day is scored in a league match in France. But damn, did you see that Angel Di Maria free kick?
Paris Saint-Germain played in the Champions League last week (you may remember the 2-0 bossing of Manchester United). This Wednesday, the Parisians are playing a Ligue 1 match against Montpellier, the last club not named PSG or Monaco to win the French league.
With the match knotted at 1-1, Di Maria stepped up to a free kick from 30 yards out. He hit it so ridiculously perfectly that goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte had no chance to make a save.

Not that PSG can’t afford to slip up half a dozen times before strolling to another Ligue 1 title (it’ll be its sixth in seven years), but it was an important goal after a free kick from Florent Mollet canceled out the opener from PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa.
Mollet’s wasn’t as good as the Angel Di Maria free kick, but it was pretty clever.
And in case you didn’t think it went in, here’s the goal-line technology, showing the ball just cross the line before Gianluigi Buffon batted the ball away.
At least this match had more scoring that the two Champions League matches on Tuesday.
