PSG defeated Nimes 4-2 in an action-packed Ligue 1 encounter Saturday that saw Neymar open the scoring and celebrate in front of a sign at Stade des Costières that called him a crybaby. The Brazilian, who’ll be representing the Seleção in friendlies on U.S. soil next week, was substituted off in the 91st minute having taken his total to four goals in four league games following the World Cup.
After the match, a young supporter in a France Kylian Mbappe kit reached Neymar on the sidelines before security could grab him. Neymar immediately cradled the child — who was clearly overjoyed at reaching the superstar — before giving him his match shirt and helping him back over the advertising boards.
After having his first season in Paris cut short due to a metatarsal injury and following that up with a disappointing showing at the World Cup (a string of events which led to him finishing outside the top 10 in UEFA Men’s Player of the Year voting), Neymar appears back to his best with his club side.
While PSG will be expected to roll through domestic competition, the club’s been drawn alongside Liverpool, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade in UEFA Champions League Group C.
The Parisian side travels to Anfield to take on last season’s runners-up on Sept. 18.
