Wayne Rooney — the all-time top scorer for Manchester United with 253 goals and for England with 53 — now has one in Major League Soccer. The 32-year-old is now just 144 away from Landon Donovan’s mark, but putting your first goal through the legs of Tim Howard should count double.
Anyway, Rooney’s strike at Audi Field gave United a 33rd-minute lead over the Colorado Rapids, only for another player to respond with his first goal for a new side: former FC Dallas midfielder Kellyn Acosta scored on his first appearance for the Rapids to even things up in the 82nd.
Acosta was traded back on July 23, and the 23-year-old’s goal is certainly a welcome sight for USMNT fans.

United would earn all three points after a flukey own goal beat Howard inside his near post in the 90th minute.
FT: @dcunited take all three points with a 90' own goal from #Rapids96. https://t.co/J1Yuno3j7z #DCvCOL https://t.co/y6qjObEBjY

DC is still sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 17 points from 18 matches. Colorado is also stuck on 17 points having played 21 games. Ouch.
