La selección mexicana recibió un demoledor golpe en su preparación rumbo a la Copa del Mundo 2022: Jesús “Tecatito” Corona no jugará el torneo luego de sufrir una grave lesión en la última jornada de entrenamientos del Sevilla FC. 

No es claro cómo se lesionó Tecatito, pero las cosas no se veían bien cuando el jugador de 29 años salió en muletas del Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán y luego se dirigió a un hospital cercano abordo de una ambulancia.

It's strange, contrived and entirely meaningless, but it's also a lot of fun. 2022 marks the 26th edition of the annual MLS All-Star Game with its current format effectively inviting the 52 best footballers currently residing in North America to get together and showcase their stuff for a night. 

After what felt like an ever-lasting saga of back and forth between Dani Alves and Pumas, the Brazilian finally signed and played his first game for the Mexican club on Wednesday night.

The deal to bring the 39-year-old to Liga MX was sealed last week and Alves was presented to fans last Saturday, but due to fitness concerns, the carioca was ruled out of Pumas' match against Pachuca on July 24 that resulted in a goalless draw. 

Real Madrid and Club América play a friendly on Tuesday, July 26 as part of the Soccer Champions Tour 2022. The game takes place in San Francisco and marks the second time they've squared off in this city through five total historical meetings. 

The first time they faced off in the Golden City was on Aug. 4, 2010. A friendly at the now extinct Candlestick Park saw the teams preparing for the 2010-11 season with perhaps the most entertaining match of their short rivalry.

The MLS All-Star roster 2022 for a matchup with the Liga MX All-Stars on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Allianz Field in St. Paul has been unveiled. 26 players have been selected for the event with fans picking 12, MLS All-Star manager Adrian Heath (Minnesota United) selecting 12 and commissioner Don Garber adding the final two.

A new dawn is on the horizon. Necaxa and Toluca will be in charge of kickstarting a new season of Mexican soccer on Friday. Of course, the Apertura 2022 will bring new hopes, new faces and many other new things. And to celebrate it, here we come with our new and unique round of Liga MX predictions. 

Some huge news out of Barcelona on Tuesday as it's been confirmed that Sergi Barjuán, one year into his two-year deal, has been relieved of his duties as manager of Barcelona Atlètic (the Barça B team). According to MARCA, he'll be replaced by former Barcelona defender and Mexico international Rafa Márquez.

It always seemed likely after the success of last year's matchup, but MLS All-Star Game 2022 is an MLS vs Liga MX rematch at Minnesota United's Allianz Field in Saint Paul on Wednesday, August 10 at 8:30 p.m. ET. 

MLS won last year's event at Banc of California Stadium in a shootout and Matt Turner became a global icon, so don't tell me this doesn't matter.
